How Switch Tint Works
The technology behind glass that goes from clear to private at the tap of a button.

Switch tint — also called smart tint or switchable film — is the most common thing people ask about when they visit our Ottawa tinting shop. Here's how it works without the jargon.
Inside the film is a layer of liquid crystals. With the power off, the crystals sit in random directions and scatter light, so the glass looks tinted or frosted. Send a small electric current through the film and the crystals line up, letting light straight through — the glass turns clear.
On a car, we cut the film to each window, mount it, and run low-voltage wiring through the trim to a controller. You switch it with a remote or button. A typical install takes four to six hours, and the power draw is small.
Why do people want it? Privacy when parked, a clean dark look, and full clarity whenever you need it — at night, or when you're pulled over. In homes and offices, the same film turns a window or meeting room private in a second.
We developed AutoWa Customs Electronic Switch Tint ourselves, started local installs in 2023 and now ship it across North America, with orders shipping in 5–10 business days and wholesale pricing for orders of more than 10.
