What is switchable smart film?
Switch tint — also called smart tint or switchable film — is a thin film with liquid crystal technology sandwiched inside. With power off, the crystals scatter light and the glass looks tinted or frosted. Apply a small electric current and the crystals line up, making the glass clear. The result is glass that changes on demand.
We started developing our own switch tint in 2020, spent years testing it, and began local installs in 2023. Today AutoWa Customs Electronic Switch Tint is our own product, and we ship it across North America.
How the install works
Each pane is measured and the film is cut to the exact glass. We mount it, route low-voltage wiring discreetly through the trim, and connect it to a controller you operate with a remote or button. A typical vehicle install takes four to six hours, and a deposit is required to book.
Power draw is small and the system is designed to run safely off the vehicle's electrical system. We test every pane before you drive away.

Use cases for cars and homes
On cars, switch tint gives you a clear view when you want it and privacy when you're parked — and the ability to go clear when stopped by police. Our Porsche 911 windshield install is a good example of what's possible.
In homes and offices, the same film turns a bathroom window, glass partition or meeting room from open to private instantly. It replaces blinds while keeping the space bright.
Who switch tint is for
Drivers who want a dark look without compromising night visibility, owners of high-end and exotic cars, rideshare and executive drivers, and homeowners or businesses who need privacy on demand. If you're not sure your glass is a fit, send us photos and we'll give you an honest answer.
