AutoWa Customs started the way most good shops do — with an idea and a lot of late nights. A decade later, our experts have been with us for a long time, and the standard never changed: clean installs, quality film, and work we'd be happy to sign.

Ten-plus years in this city. We've tinted cars, homes, and businesses across Ottawa, and we plan to be here for a long time yet.

Our Journey

From an idea to North America.

Every step of the way happened right here in Ottawa — from practicing on friends' cars to expanding Switch Tints across the continent.

  1. 2016

    The idea

    The idea of opening a tint shop came into our heads right here in Ottawa. We saw what premium tinting could do for a car — and how rare it was to find done properly.

  2. 2016–2017

    Practicing the craft

    We spent two years practicing on friends' cars, learning every curve of every window. No shortcuts, no rushed installs — just repetition until the film looked flawless.

  3. 2018

    Certified by XPEL

    We got certified by XPEL and took our skills to local shops, working alongside experienced installers and learning how the best in the industry do it.

  4. 2019

    Our own shop

    We opened our own shop in Ottawa. Everything we had learned went into it — a space built around clean installs, honest advice, and work we were proud to put our name on.

  5. 2020

    Tough times, new ideas

    COVID hit and it was tough — but it pushed us to build. We started creating Switch Tints as our own product and began doing residential installations.

  6. 2022

    Testing

    We put our Switch Tint through serious testing. Durability, clarity, electrical reliability — we wanted a product we could stand behind for years, not months.

  7. 2023

    Local installation begins

    We started installing Switch Tints locally and became one of the only shops in Canada installing this technology.

  8. 2025

    Becoming a brand

    We made Switch Tints a brand of our own and started selling them, bringing the product we built to more people.

  9. 2026

    Bigger and expanding

    We expanded to a bigger shop, added PPF and wraps, and are now expanding Switch Tints across all of North America.

Edrees A

Founder & Owner

A software engineer who always had an itch for cars. He grew up around them, behind the wheel of his dad's 2007 M3 — and rather than chase his degree, he chose to make a difference in the car community globally.

Ibrahim A

Founder & Owner

To most people, "Ibro" — a car enthusiast who has loved the look of cars since he was a kid, from stickers on his mom's car to wrapping his first 2002 Civic in the middle of winter. He's the one who obsessed over Switch Tints and turned it into our product.
